Overcast with the odd spot of blue sky to start the day here in Turangi today. Fairly warm and humid.  No wind as of 9:00am.  This may increase during the day though.

Wow !!! What a change yesterday …. in the space of about 4 days we have gone from basically still using a heat pump to ice cream eating weather and tar melting on the road !!!  Finally what we could call SUMMER !!! Still been windy in the mid to late part of the day though.

I received this picture and email yesterday thanks to James Street. The horsepower he was referring to was a couple of oars rather than a 200hp Merc or Yamaha that alerts anglers on the other side of lake Taupo that you are out fishing. The jigging reports have been picking up over the last week or so. In general the boating reports have been quite favorable over the last three or four weeks.  No one has really been struggling to catch fish with most boating anglers appearing very happy.

James writes:

Just goes to show you don’t need a lot of horse power or need to go far to catch trout jigging. Fish seemed in good condition with nice Orange flesh. 4 drifts for 4 fish. Last picture not for the net. Can’t have everyone knowing my super secret spot 100m from the boat ramp 😉
