Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. As of 9:00am the cloud appears to be increasing. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is clear and fishable.
Recently a few boating anglers have been reporting the fish that they have caught have had Shag Worm in them. The Shag Worm has been part of the fishery for quite a long time and is nothing uncommon and is not a new phenomenon. Read the following report from 2015 and it explains the lifecycle of the Shag Worm.
(Below) The Shag Worm. This is usually located between the rib cage and the flesh of the trout. It can occur in spent fish, or fish that are in top quality condition like the one I caught a few years ago. It can be in trout that are caught in the Lake or in trout that are caught in the rivers.
