Overcast with light drizzly rain falling at times.  No wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is clear and fishable.

Ooooh …… it is good to see these dark grey skies.  Looks like some good rain is due for Friday ….  this should set the weekend up nicely for anglers keen on heading to Turangi for a fish.  At this stage I would say that we could do with a good dose of rain as it has been pretty dry over the last few months.  Some colour to the river would help those who have found it a little slow in the sunny, clear conditions.  It seems over the last few weeks we have just had the right amount of rain fall at the right time to help the weekend anglers.

The dirtier water is usually a help to snag the browns and some extra water volume should be the indicator to move some fresher fish up into the river systems.  Extra volume to the river will be a bonus for the wetliners and Skagit fishermen.

A few reports from the boaties trickling in ….. tends to be the old favourite Black and Gold toby, Gold Lightening Bolt toby, Pink Cobras and Tassie Devils

(Below) Only three anglers fishing directly below the S.H.1 road bridge with three above this morning.  A few way down in the “Bridge Pool of Old” opposite the rock wall at the end of Herekiekie Street.
