Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind as of 9:00am. All rivers are clear and fishable.
A few more juvenile fish are being reported caught in the rivers. This is normal for now and most of Feb / March. A good flush in April usually makes these disappear. Quite a few more good sized browns spotted that will be mooching around to feed on the baby rainbows.
Evening rises have been reported a bit up and down. Appears to be a smaller caddis hatching now, remember the OLD saying for dry fly fishing …. ” Match the Hatch … Size, Shape and Colour ” not the modern equivalent of ” Bling, Zing and Fling “.
Some great weather to be out and about on the boats.
Some good reports from up at Lake O – usual suspects …. bloodworms, and damsel nymphs. For the desperate then Buzzers and Midges were tried.
