Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. No wind as of 9:00am but this may pick up mid day like it did yesterday. All rivers are clear and fishable.
From some of the pictures I have seen of the boat fishing and lake fish over the last few days I would think that there are going to be some cracker fish run the rivers this year. The nymphers who used 8lb nylon last year might be looking at 10lb this year 😉 . There have been some real fat looking ones and ones over 50cm in length. This season there seems to have been plenty of smelt around and also koura. The South end of the Lake appears to be fishing really well. I wonder if it is due to the fact that most of last year we had a lot of NE, Northerly and NW winds and this pushed / blew a lot of the nutrient/food to this end of the lake.
Some good browns caught in the river over the last few days.
