Fishing Reports

Monday 20th August 2018

Overcast with light rain falling at times. No wind as of 9:00am. The Tongariro is highly fishable and flowing at about 32 cumecs.

The forecast indicates the rain could be heavy from this afternoon. This may cause the rivers to come up and flood. Keep an eye on the weather forecast throughout the day.

Some nice fish have been reported caught over the weekendwith Andrew indicating reports from the weekend that nymphers seemed to do quite well while the swingers were a little on the quieter side. Fingers crossed we don’t get too much rain over the next few days to flood the rivers again. The river has settled a bit over the last month or so which has been good for the anglers.

(Above) I was out and about on Saturday with Kelly from Featherston. This was the first time he had tried fly fishing. The day was perfect for it. It was nice and sunny for a change.

(Below) Kelly landed this nice spotty rainbow.

(Below) A nice silver Tongariro River rainbow landed by Kelly. He enjoyed the few hours out on the river.

We were nymphing and hooked fish on the Blushing Caddis, and smaller glo bugs.
