Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi with some cloud about. Much cooler temperatures today.  My outside thermometer said 9.9 degrees Celsius at 10pm last night. It was a bit nippy. No wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro is fishable and flowing at 24.4 cumecs.

(Below) I received an email and some pictures on Monday thanks to Murray Clearwater.  Check out the fillets on the top photo.  There have been some great reports of anglers fishing the river over the last week with a few anglers getting smoked by some fish when they have been hooked!  Funny … fish “smoke” anglers, just like anglers “smoke” fish. Murray writes:

Yup the locals are right. There are no fish in the river. Not one not none!! I had two sessions on the weekend and only hooked 20 or so landed 12 or so. Killed 3 crackers photos attached. Look at the colour of that flesh!! Must have been 20 fish rising in the Major Jones morning and afternoon. Basically had the river to myself. So everyone stay away from the river its not worth a look…..

(Below) Check out these nice fat orange fillets !!
