Fishing Reports

Highly Fishable

Overcast grey day to start the day here in Turangi today.  No wind as of 11:30am.

Far out !!!  Been flat out in the shop …. haven’t had time to scratch myself ……

Reports from yesterday ….. “Geeze we hooked 7 and landed two!!” or “We hooked 5 and lost 5” ….. the fish have been smoking a lot of anglers out there ….  might need to go up in the nylon poundage stakes ….. a few murmurings of  “True 7lbders ” have been whispered in the shop.

We are now at the shortest day of the year so will be heading up towards the longest day from now on …….. roll on daylight savings!!!

Most anglers have been very happy with how things have been fishing.

Nymphers have generally been taking out glo bugs and C3 hare and Coppers and Pheasant Tails.

Wetliners have generally been taking out Olive Rabbits, Red and Orange Rabbits, Red Setters, Olive and Brown Woolly Buggers.

Coming into the weekend, the rain looks to have worked its magic yet again and has happened just in time for the weekend but heard of a few cancellations for anglers heading this way thinking it would be no good ……. keep an eye on our reports …..  and we will let you know …. I’ve got 20 plus years of keeping a daily eye on the river and the local weather here in Turangi.
