Overcast and low misty cloud here in Turangi this morning. No wind as of 8:45am.  The Tongariro River is in a highly fishable condition this morning and flowing at about 39.4 cumecs.

We had mixed reports yet again from anglers who called in through the shop.  Some were out and ” never saw anyone around us catch anything” and then other like the anglers in the pictures below ” had a great day “.  Both methods of angling “should” have worked well yesterday.  Nymphing should have been great and also the wetlining.  It looks like the conditions yesterday sorted the Men from the Boys but going by the pictures below it look like Boys may be out doing the Men 😉

Anglers reported catching fish yesterday on C3 101’s and Glo Bugs.

(Above) Finn from the backblocks of Taihape with a really nice Tongariro River brown trout.  He was in the shop yesterday eyeing up his Dad’s new rod and reel set-up …. I think he was wanting to test his Dad’s new gear before his Dad could get a chance to use it !

(Below) Young Jack looked like he had a good day on the Tongariro River yesterday as well.  It is good to see the youngsters out and about enjoying what the outdoors has to offer.

(Above) Neil from Sporting Life … on a cracker of a day off fishing yesterday while I was at Work !

(Below) Neil’s mate Thomas who is over here in NZ from the West Island of New Zealand and being from the State Queensland, he is doing a spot of fishing to avoid the Covid Lockdowns 😉
