Overcast with high cloud to start the day but the afternoon is nice and sunny with a slight breeze.

Today saw the latest works begin on the The Poutu Tunnel and canal and this has brought the river up to 40cumec at 3pm and may go further yet. It will make the river more coloured as well.

The Tongariro will be a challenge for most but there is still a chance of picking up fish with sinking lines and working the edges with olive woolly buggers. There are plenty of other options available with angling still possible in the smaller streams or the nearby lakes. This time of year could have some good fishing along the Lake Taupo beaches during the day and the stream mouths of an evening might be ok but the fishing will slow a tad with the full moon only a week away now.
