Fishing Reports

Highly Fishable

Overcast but fine start to the day here in Turangi.  No wind as of 10:00am.  The Tongariro is clear and fishable and flowing at about 22.9 cumecs.

10:20 —– The WIND has picked up !!!

We were pretty flat out in the shop yesterday with anglers who seemed like they crawled out of the woodwork !

Nymphers have tended to be taking out Green Caddis, Gold Bead Hare and Coppers, C3 Red Bead Hare and Coppers, C3 Pole Positions with a bit of red on then, also C3 Flashback PT Red.  The odd glo bugs still seem to be working.

Wetliners are taking out either Olive Woolly Buggers, Olive Woolly Buggers with an Orange Bead, or a Brown Woolly Bugger.  Some nice fish reported on the wetline.

Very few reports from Lake Taupo at present – last week due to the excessive wind no one could get out.  Few reports from the Jiggers, but my suggestion would be to try Harling or Trolling.  Try pinks, whites or silvers and even something with a bit of red in it.

River mouth anglers tend to be taking out white booby’s or heave and leave glo bugs in either a bright orange or champagne / orange dot. On a sunny day try something with a bit of Chartreuse in it.
