Overcast start to the day here in Turangi this morning. No rain or wind as of 9:00am.  The Tongariro River is flowing at about 35 cumecs and is highly fishable.

Good reports filtering in from all anglers.  A Father and Son were in the shop first thing this morning and reported they had a great day up at the Hinemaiaia yesterday. I would have thought they would have had more luck at catching other anglers 😉

13 cars reported parked at the Tauranga Taupo carpark this morning.

In general most anglers are catching plenty of fish.  Some reporting smaller rainbows that they are catching compared to the last time that they were here but other have been reporting some very good sized rainbows.

Good quality looking fish being caught at present.  Quite a few browns caught too.

Glo bugs are really moving now for the nymphers.

Orange Beaded Olive Woolly Buggers for the wetliners.

(Above) Neil was out before work this morning and took this photo looking upstream to the Hydro Pool.

(Below) Two anglers fishing the head of the Major Jones Pool, one standing arm pit deep and most likely on the fish in the top part of the Breakfast Pool and  one other on the bank towards the tail of the Breakfast Pool.

(Below) The clarity of the water in the Tongariro River this morning.

(Below) A magnificent fresh run hen caught by Simon Groshinski.  This picture was sent in this morning thanks to Simon.  These are the types of fish that have run with the flood at the start of the week.
