The shop was super busy over the weekend which kept us on our toes, good to see a few of the regulars coming in and some first timers who saw us to get kitted out with the right gear. The weather has made a turn to start the week with a cool breeze and overcast conditions out there today, the warm sunny days we had were just stunning. Wet days are predicted now and we might see some more fresh Rainbows make the run into the Tongariro. The fishing for some has been a little harder in the 26cummec flow and clear water however there has been some better results by dropping down to #16 naturals and small egg patterns. I saw some Mayflys coming off late yesterday evening, we’ll begin to see more of this in the coming weeks. I enjoy this time of year when daylight savings starts and there is more time after work to spend a couple of hours fishing into the dark. Local guide Bill Grace was out on the lake early today and put his clients onto some nice trout, they were jigging and got a nice Brown Trout as well.
