We have a bit of rain with us again this morning here in Turangi. Yesterday saw the first spike in river flows for a while with the Tongariro reaching 45 cumecs. It knocked a bit of the grime off of the rocks which had anglers having to clean up there flies after most casts with the grime all through the water column but it produced some stunning browns with an 11 and a 1/2 pound being the fish of the day to the net landed around the town pools swinging a big hairy streamer.

She is sitting at a comfortable 22.0 cumecs with a bit of colour this morning and should make for a good days fishing on the Tongariro.

Thursday the 7th of March we have an excellent event on in the Shop with the legend Simon Gawesworth from RIO PRODUCTS going to be in the shop and on the water demonstrating Spey Techniques and going through the differences between fly lines and what to use in what situations for all types of casters. This is a not to be missed event so make sure you flick me an email at sport.life@xtra.co.nz to say yo are coming and I will add you to the list.

It is just me in the shop today but Kana has joined me for the morning to keep me company so pop in and say g’day and get yourself geared up.

See you at Sporting Life Fishing Outfitters – Turangi
