Fine and sunny start to the morning here in Turangi today. A slight cool SW breeze. The Tongariro is flowing at 45 cumecs and is a nice olivey green colour with a shade of moss. Ideal for both the wetline or the nymph.
Anglers heading this way for the next week should experience some great conditions to fish. Hopefully the sun comes out a bit more and the rivers settle. I think the weather forecast is good for the next week …. I can tell you I am over rain !!
(Above) Local angler Robert called into the shop yesterday evening at around 5pm with a 4.74lb trout that he caught fishing in the dirty water of the Tongariro. Most other anglers had pulled the pin for the day but Robert said ” I am not working, I might as well go fishing ” and as a result actually caught something. As I said years ago some anglers take the opportunity to go fishing while others don’t. In the conditions we had yesterday 99% of anglers will have notgonefishing. I had the saying years ago that ” if you don’t go, you don’t know !”
