Overcast but fine day here in Turangi this morning.  No wind as of 10:30am.  The Tongariro is clear and highly fishable.

Been flat out in the shop this morning with the long holiday weekend of Labour Weekend…..  most anglers are heading out on Lake Taupo to boat fish ….

Found yesterday – Blue Pool area   x1 Neoprene Dive Bootie  … it’s in the shop here at Sporting Life

(Below) I went for a walk around the smaller loop of the Tongariro River Walkway yesterday evening since it was such a nice evening.  This is looking upstream to the Judges Pool. I saw one angler fishing the Major Jones Pool, two way up in the Hydro and only one other way down in the Bridge Pool of Old.

(Below) The evening light was amazing yesterday. It was shining through the new leaves of all of the Oak trees that have been planted in Turangi.  Turangi is known as the Trout Fishing Capital of the World but could also be called the Tree Town of New Zealand.

(Below) Just the one angler fishing in the “Bridge Pool of Old” yesterday evening. It was just a stunning evening to be out and about.

We are approaching the time of humid sort of weather which could produce thunderstorms.  Just be wary of waving your graphite fly rod around on the river when this happens.
