Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.  Thanks for your support over the year.  The website might be a bit intermittent over the next week or so during the “Busy”period.

Just a heads up for the holiday period.

We will be closed only on Christmas Day

Boxing Day – open

All of New Years holidays – open

Anniversary Days ( Auckland / Wellington ) – open

Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today. The Tongariro is back down to 26 cumecs and is highly fishable.

I’ll keep it short and sweet today …..

I was out and about on Sunday and had a great few hours on the river while it was high and coloured.  Managed to hook into 7 good sized fish … landed 5 all took a green caddis, all rainbows.  They must have been gorging themselves from the 215 cumec flood a few days before hand.  Also hooked a Sammy the Sardine on a Prince Nymph too.  A few more of these may show up now due to the extra volume of water possibly flushing them out of the sidestreams back into the main flow.

This email and picture we got from Olli from Finland.  He looks to have had a great time while the river was high and coloured. Hopefully he enjoyed his “Mince & Cheese” too.

Olli writes:

Hello and thanks for everything! It was my biggest trout ever caught. Best regards

Olli Karhu
