Fine and sunny start to the day here in Turangi today.  No wind as of 9:00am but this may increase from the Northerly quarter late in the afternoon.  The Tongariro is highly fishable flowing at about 30 cumecs and is ideal for all methods of fishing ….. dry fly / wet fly / skagit / spey / nymphing / czech nymphing / cz skagit wet nymphing / dry wet nymphing skagit  …. anything goes these days ..

I’ve been pretty busy in the shop this morning with quite a few anglers calling in to pick up supplies.  Sounds like fish were getting ” hauled ” out of the river over the last two days by the bucket loads …… by reports from anglers calling into the shop ….. however some of the ones saying they were being hauled out were surrounded by the haulers but couldn’t snag anything themselves.  Usual story.  The little bit of colour left in the river yesterday seems like it helped some anglers who then reported today was a bit slower for them ….

I have the next two days off but going by the forecast ( God is looking at my work roster ) the weather looks pretty foul ….. am I really that desperate to catch a fish and get wet ??  Not really  … I like to pick my days to fish these days …. who knows I might get out for a burn ….

Daylight savings starts tonight !  Bring it on … it means I have a couple of hours of light after work to be able to get out for a fish, however the onset of daylight savings also is the start of the Lawn Mowing season !! Fish or Mow ? Fish or Mow? Fish or Mow ?  It’s a hard choice sometimes. Someone once told me … ” The Grass May be Greener on the other side of the Fence …. but it’s just as hard to mow !!! ”  same as fishing  ……. ” The fishing is always better somewhere else”  ????
