Highly Fishable

Overcast but calm start to the day here in Turangi today.  It feels pretty warm and humid here in Tuangi today.  The Tongariro is highly fishable this morning.  The Tauranga-Taupo is still up to about .7 in level but should drop later in the day to become nice and fishable.

Once again we had a fairly busy weekend here in Turangi with anglers descending upon us.  The shop was busy again with those wanting to try their luck.  The good thing is seeing other anglers introducing new anglers to the sport.

(Above) Neil went for a walk up the hill this morning. There were quite a few anglers fishing the “Bridge Pool of Old”.  The ones up to their “Armpits” are most likely standing where it would be possible to catch fish.

(Below) Looking down to the Bridge Fishing Lodge this morning. A bit misty today.  We got quite a lot of rain over the weekend but the Tongariro was fishable over the whole weekend.

(Below) Looking upstream to the Judges Pool this morning.  Only one angler in here …. a 10 minute walk usually culls the numbers of anglers prepared to make a small journey to access some water that hasn’t got a gaggle of others fishing it.

(Below) Here is a video explaining a little bit about angling etiquette.
