Highly Fishable
Clouds and sun

Last day of 2018 so make sure you get out and have a final blast on your local before getting too toweled up tonight with family and friends and for those of you non drinkers get out and at it tomorrow too. Ill be up for an early session tomorrow morning before work.

There is some cracking fishing going on in the Central Plateau. The quality of the Browns coming out already is outstanding. I spent Saturday Swinging the Tongariro with Jason Cochrane and Nick Foster. Olive Gold Bead Wooly Buggers in a size 8 hook have produced all my fish on the swing in the last week or so including the Big Browns I have landed. Jason hooked a beauty in some turbulent water on a big streamer pattern and a fast sink line. Solid fight and beautiful fish.

Jason with hist first Brown for the day on the Tongariro. He finished the day landing 3

Falling Prey to a Jason Cochrane Streamer.

I fished Lake O yesterday with Mark Etheridge. It was very very changeable weather and temperatures up there as it can often be but when it was on it was on with some beautiful fish boated. We fished nymphs under an Indicator. A red pheasant tail landed the rainbow in the photo for me on 5lb Tippet. It was a stunning battle and a beautiful aerial display by all the fish we landed.

Just over 7lb and a hell of a good fight.

It’s a stunner of a day again in Turangi and the river flow and colour looks superb. Get out and get into it and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
