Friday 12th May 2023

It is a stunning bluebird day in Turangi with hardly a cloud in sight. There's been a slight breeze through town which has kept things chilly but not enough to affect casting too bad. The Tongariro is flowing at 57.1m3/sec and holding a little bit of colour. Neil has continued his alpine training and it almost looks worth it for that view!

Theresa is on the water today with fishing report pin up boy Sam. They have been putting their Sage Trout Spey Rods and Reels to use by swinging flies for some fresh fish that have entered the river after the recent drop in temperature. A great sign of things to come. Looks like olive woolly buggers must be on the menu today.

The slushy flies continue to prove their worth in the coloured water and are swiftly disappearing from our fly table. Champagne and Bubble Gum seem to be the hot colours thus far.

The weather is going to be stunning for the duration of the weekend and we're all looking forward to spending some time on the water over the next few days. Looks like there is a few nice fish starting to move so go get into it.
