Tongariro River Flow: 36.2m3/sec

Weather: Cloudy 18°C

It is a warm and humid day in Turangi, the rain has paused for now and reports indicate good numbers of trout have been caught in the Tongariro. Boat anglers are on the rise seeing folks come into the shop for gear and advice, jigging doing the damage for those who went out early this morning. Tim has tied jigging flies (pictured below) and are available instore so get in quick before they go!

Tarn has joined the smelt club! Hooking up a few fish on a home tied smelt pattern whilst battling the crazy weather of yesterday

Today the Tongariro is very fishable despite the rain received overnight. Earlier this morning Neil took these images from the main road bridge to give you all an indication of what the river looks like. The river is slightly discoloured so we recommend wetlining as a great option if you want to target brown trout that may be coming up the river now.
