ο»ΏTongariro River Flow: 26.1m3/sec

Weather: Mostly CloudyΒ

The weather looks dreary at the moment but looking at the forecast for Saturday and Sunday it's set to be sunny and warm! The Tongariro hasn't received any rain as of late so it's still running low and clear, dry/dropper rig being the most productive technique at present time as a majority of fish have been in the river and are now wary of indicators and heavy nymphs especially in low/clear flows. That's not to say heavy nymphs below indicator would not work, it most certainly would be ideal when fishing deeper pools. Wetlining has been working well for those who are true to the craft, changing flies with consideration to size/colour/weight when facing varying fishing scenarios will help you pick up that extra fish or two. If you're spey fishing the same applies although have various tips on hand to adjust the sink rate as needed.Β
