It has been a stunning day here in Turangi with bright blue skies. The temperatures are on the rise and from our customers reports it sounds like the fishing has been picking up leading into the weekend with dry dropper being the preferred method in saying that wet lining is still a valid method coming into this time of year especially if scale down to smaller flies as shown by this chrome hen I picked up yesterday on my spey set up.
The team headed out for a post work mission last night fishing into dark. while the fish weren't rising as much as they had been before this previous lot of rain a couple of fish were bought to hand. Neil once again had success swinging the world famous 'Sporting Caddis' while the rest of us picked out a couple fishing upstream with the Category Three Tricky Situation and the classic Kakahi Queen dry flies. The fishing may not have been red hot, but it was a stunning night to be on the water.
The weather is set to be fine for the majority of the weekend and I would imagine it will bring some great dry fly action across the next couple evenings. come and enjoy the sun and don't forget to come in store and say hello while you're in town.
