Good morning Turangi! We have a beautiful sunny weekend ahead of us with a drop of rain predicted this evening for a few hours. The Tongariro is flowing at 26.3 cumecs at the moment, with a predicted flow of around 32 cumecs in the coming 24 hours which will be welcome to bring some of those patiently waiting silver fish up the river system.

Myself and local legend Wally headed out to the Hinimaiaia in search of fresh fish a few days ago and we did find a few and some already spawning and plenty of resident fish and fingerlings to keep us entertained! My Sage Spectrum C Reel always has my back no matter the situation and handily I carry my 2 spare spools ready with the intermediate & sinking line so I can quickly change, adapt and fish to any situation that presents itself. Great little reels with good grunt and great value, available in Black, Grey and Rose Gold.

The mouth has also been fishing very well with anglers landing beautifully conditioned rainbows on smelt flies and woolly buggers.

The brown trout are still spawning upstream with some recovering browns being landed when their daytime appetite increases. They enjoy taking the pink beaded Gummers Carpet Caddis along with the usual size 14 & 16 Pole Positions, Pheasant Tails & Hare & Coppers.

Our favourite Stonefly pattern the Category 3 "101"s in size 10 and 12 have been restocked as another of the hot favourite flies in the river at the moment.

Night time stream & river mouth fishing is still providing the goods. Alex & Hayley have been getting stuck into the local spots at night and catching smelting rainbows on a selection of our black lumo flies in store. Come in and have a chat with us to set you up for a successful night on the water! Catfish have also made for hilarious appearances and great to pull these invasive species out of the water to help keep our water system clean.

Happy fishing guys! See you out there,

Rosie
