The long easter weekend is drawing to a close and we hope everyone has had their fix of chocolate and hot cross buns. We received a little bit of rain over night in Turangi, but it was not enough to have any significant effect on the river level with the Tongariro sitting at 53.3m3/sec this morning. The fishing on the river has certainly picked up compared to weeks prior with anglers taking fish both on the nymph and wet line. Although there have not been large pods entering the river yet, the odd fresh rainbow has been brought to the bank. The stream mouth fishing has still been a hot producer with sight fishing opportunities during the day and red-hot action during the night. We've topped up on our favourite Pat Swift stream mouth flies which proved affective for Neil and me during a recent night session.

The quality of fish caught by boat anglers over the weekend has been nothing short of stunning. Jono sent in some photos of a couple cracking fish he caught while trolling yesterday that are destined for the smoker. Hopefully it is an indication of some of the fish we can expect to run the river this winter.
We are currently working on getting some new Patagonia sling packs, hip packs and beanies into our system just in to refresh your kit for the new season. We will be sure to let you know once they are live on our website.
