Monday 22nd of January 2024

After a mixed bag of weather over the weekend we have kicked off a new week with a scorcher of a day complete with bright blue skies and only a very slight breeze. The Tongariro was carrying a fair amount of colour this morning which was a result of the dark clouds looming over the headwaters late yesterday evening. The river has cleared throughout the day but is still holding a decent amount of colour and currently flowing at 31 m3/sec.

Louie, Sam and Jonas have all sent us reports of hungry brown trout in both the river and lake. Louie and Jonas both picking up a hand full of streamer patterns which worked an absolute treat! Sam nailed one on his trusty dry dropper set up. Well done boys!

Hopefully the fishing continues to fire throughout the week and the reports of brown trout continue to flood through. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the week brings!
