Monday 26th Of May

Weather: Mostly cloudy. A few showers, then periods of rain from evening. Northerlies.

Tongariro River Flow: 30.9(m3/sec)

We have just re stocked with more winter flies, like the #8 Simons Ugly and Cat3 101. Tim Healey has also been busy tying up a heap of his world famous (in Turangi) Rainbow Warrior Nymph, with 2x 4mm tungsten beads. The perfect weight to get your flies down deep, but you'll find this may well be the only fly you'll need during the winter months. I've just added this online, and the trays have been well topped-up.

We also have just put on sale the Redington CRUX fly rod, in both a #6 and #8. With a price of $829.99 down to $574.99, it's the perfect winter rod for nymphing or for general use through the entire season. We do have limited stock, so get in quick before they go.

The Fishing locally has still been outstanding; the fish are all through the rivers. With this rain coming on Wednesday, we can hopefully see some new fish entering the rivers. I have noticed during the dry spell, the fish are still moving, and I am seeing plenty of very silver fish in the smaller rivers and lower down the Tongariro.

It's the last few days for the current season now, so make the most of it while you have access higher up some of the rivers. We have a lot more rain in the forecast, towards the end of next week. The fishing this winter is going to be good.

For winter guiding, give us a call or email, and we will get you in touch with one of our guides to steer you in the right direction.

Tight Lines everyone,
