Tongariro River Flow: 54.1m3/sec

Weather: Rain/Sunshine

The weather had started clearing up seeing more blue sky and sunshine but just now the rain came pouring down 😣 although the forecast indicates we have sunny days ahead, but we shall see... I think we are all wanting a good break from the rain, especially those who are wanting to fish the back country.
It appears the boat fishing is starting to take off seeing more customers coming in and getting geared up before heading out to the lake. Black/gold, green, pink and orange coloured Tassie Devil's and Toby's working well.
We have received a few reports from Lake Otamangakau, with the fishing slow yet the being in good size and condition which is what we want to hear. Olive and black wooly buggers being the flies of choice.
With Summer on the mind, I've been busy organising fly lines, dry and wee wet fly boxes, and tying up still water patterns for the smaller lakes. Tarn and I were discussing lines for the backcountry, one we both find reliable for casting and presenting small and large dry flies is the RIO Elite Technical Trout line. I pair it with the Sage LL 9'0" 6wt model and it's been my go-to for a couple of summers now.
