Tongariro River Flow: 33.4(m3/sec)

Finally!! The rain has come, and the river is starting to rise. It’s still early in the day, and the river flow is sitting at 33.4 m³/sec and rising. If this rain keeps coming, it will encourage the huge numbers of fish sitting at the river mouths to finally start running up the river. With a good flush of fresh water coming through, conditions are looking very promising, and we could see some excellent fishing over the coming days. Keep an eye on the river levels, because once the water starts pushing through, things could really get exciting!
We are after getting a new stock of Fasna hooks in store and are up on the wall ready to sell. The Fasna hooks are extremely strong and reliable, giving you confidence when fighting hard running fish. Which we might see in the coming days, with fresher more energetic fish moving into the system. The extra strength in the hook will give you the upper hand. To company these hooks we also have new Borderline slotted beads in stock in a range of colours ranging from 3.5 to 4.6mm. Extra water in the river means extra weight in the fly so these 4.6 mm beads will be perfect.
Reports have come in saying the TT is starting to fish really well, with good numbers of fresh fish entering the river system. With the recent rain, conditions are looking promising, and we should see even more fresh fish moving through over the coming days. The increased flow should also help spread the fish throughout the system and get them feeding more actively. Would be worth a look!
I Went down to the Poutu river for a cast after work yesterday, managed to get a few nice fish. Fish are spread out but did find some deeper pools holding good numbers of fish. Few decent fish in the river system too. Also went for a look on the Tongariro and managed to get some. I found the side channels very productive, so I would say if you came across any side channels give them a go because they can hold some good quality fish. Was very lucky to cross paths with this beautiful brown out of a little side channel. I was lucky to get him, typical brown he kept trying to tear in under the banks.
