Another overcast day on the Central Plateau as the cold winter tries it's best to hang on for a few more days. The Tongariro is slowly back on the drop to low flows currently sitting at 29.4m3/sec with a slight green tinge ideal for both nymphing and wet lining. Although the majority of the rivers around the country are now open, the Central Plateau has been the place to be as the rain has kept many other rivers high and murky while the Taupo tributaries are in pristine condition and stacked with fish!! The spike in flow last weekend certainly sent a flush of fresh fish up the river with the lion's share of our customers claiming that now is the best fishing we've had all year!

The weather is still pretty chilly, and it looks like it is about to get even colder overnight. We have a full-size range of ThermaTech thermals and Patagonia fleece to keep you nice and warm while you're out there enjoying the red-hot fishing.

The crew has been out in force to make the most of the ideal conditions that we have right now. From brown trout to fresh rainbows and recovering fish on dry flies the options are endless at the moment. With this many fish about we should be in for a heck of summer, looks like Lily the border collie is enjoying herself 🐶😀
