Tongariro River Flow: 26.1m3/sec

Weather: Rain/Cloudy

Dim and moody view of the Tongariro below the Major Jones swing bridge pictured earlier today.

The sun is currently trying to push through and is well received by those currently enjoying the market day.

The rain poured down overnight yet nothing to bring the rivers up, so they remain low and slightly murky. There could be some brown trout on the move so keep an eye on the edges before you wade out to fish deeper, they can be somewhat lazy and prefer to sit/feed in slack water. Keep things small if nymphing, our go-to would be a natural fly under a small indicator or dry. Wetlining could be another option with a focus on the edges so once again think light when selecting line and streamers as you don't want either to drag or catch on the bottom.
