WE ARE OPEN NEW YEARS EVE 8:30am - 5:00pm AND NEW YEARS DAY 9:30am - 3:00pm

The year is drawing to a close and we have finally been blessed with a stunning patch of weather that seems to have put a smile on the faces of all visiting the central plateau for their new year's break. The Tongariro is sitting at 29.5 m3/sec and has returned to the typical gin clear colour you would expect at this time of year. The evening rise has once again picked up and the brown trout are most definitely starting to make their presence known leaving a few anglers frustrated and others coming back from the river grinning ear to ear. Sam Nelley has been making the most of his time off work lurking around the Tongariro and it seems he can't do any wrong as we have been seeing regular photos of silver brown trout sitting within his net, you'd almost think the man could turn water into wine! Well done Sam and thank you for the photo.

We have been inundated in the shop with hordes of people wanting to make the most of their breaks and enjoy the great fishing that both our lakes and rivers have offer. Jigging and Trolling gear has been flying off the shelves Tim is instore today and he is working his fingers down to the bone as he tries to keep us stocked up with jig rigs for you all, I think we will let him have a lunch break after he ties his 1000th one. We have also just received a box filled with Te Aro Trolling lures that are pre rigged with a single hook and ready to slay fish straight out of the packet. Going by the popularity of all our other Trolling lures these will not last long so it will pay to come in and grab a few before you miss out!

We would like to thank everyone for their patience during this busy time and we have appreciated your support over the Christmas and New Year Period. Long may the great weather last and we wish you all the best for the new year!
