Saturday 6th August 2022

What an amazing past few days it has been! The rivers have been firing on all cylinders and we have been very spoilt with some stunning bluebird days which has made a great change from the rain of late. It looks like we are in for a bit more starting this afternoon which fingers crossed wont come to much but will give the rivers a touch of colour and keep the fish moving. From the reports in the shop and our own missions around the place all the rivers have been producing some incredible fishing, and while the average size seems to have dropped slightly from a few weeks ago with the majority of fish now sitting in that 3.5-4.5lb size range - there are still some bigger 6lb+ models rolling through so don't drop your tippet size too low as there has been plenty of stories of the one that got away being told in the shop!

Remember we are still running our Guideline competition - send in any photos wearing some Sporting Life merchandise and you will go in the draw to win a Guideline Elevation rod, Favo reel and line of your choice from our line wall. Jeremy sent through this pic of his wife Sunny putting her Sporting Life hoody to good use on the upper Tongariro! You can purchase them through this link here.

We have finally managed a big restock of globugs and bombs after a few weeks of low supply however we will be unable to supply most colours of the pre tied soft eggs as none are available from our wholesalers. We do have plenty of the Wapsi ChewBalls and hooks available for you to tie your own up, check them out here.

The two handers have been smashing it lately with Jason getting some cracking fish to the bank on his last visit down here!

Wetlining has continued to provide some fantastic fish on the swing, and the nymphers have been peeling fish out left right and centre. The Category 3 Carpet Caddis has continued to fly out the door and we have plenty in stock so come and grab a few before you hit the water! This season continues to go from strength to strength and is living up to the hype so if you're undecided about making a trip down this is the year to do it - our Winter Fly Festival is on next weekend the 13th August and is free to attend so if you want to have a listen to some fantastic speakers and pick up plenty of new tips and tricks, and have a cast with the latest and greatest rods and lines come along to the shop at 8.30am.  We look forward to seeing you all here!
