Weather: Partly cloudy with low winds, a chilly winters day ❄❄
Tongariro River Flow: 29.7m3/sec
The Tongariro winter fishing is in full swing now and anyone willing to brave the cold temps are finding decent numbers of fish around. The forecast is predicting an extended period of clear weather with cold overnight temperatures. The river is still sitting pretty clear at the moment meaning covering water and using more natural flies is proving very successful. However, on the lower river wetliners report doing well on both natural wet fly patterns and brighter, colourful flies as well. Reports from the smaller rivers have been very good with seemingly plenty of fish running up from the lake.
