Tongariro River Flow: 27.2m3/sec Weather: Mostly Cloudy/Drizzly Rain
The hot sunny days have been interrupted by overcast skies and some light rain which may become heavier by tomorrow, but we shall see what comes of it. The river remains low/clear and fishing superbly, attracting many families with young children which is so great to see this school holidays.
The big lake has been treating boat anglers very well this week! And it appears there are quite a few getting out with an assortment of lures, fishing rods, and good mates on board! In hope of finding beautiful fish like the one caught by Barry pictured. He checked the contents of the fish's stomach and found mostly bullies, and if you look closely, one had a smelt in its mouth!
Gabe has routinely been fishing the Tongariro after work with his single hand spey set up and has since put that on the wall and picked up the 6wt spotting fish rising for mayflies along the edges and through shallow riffles.
