Tongariro River Flow: 35.7m3/sec
Weather: Wind & Cloud
Aunty Gabrielle is en route and the wind is starting to pick up over the Plateau, but the conditions remain stable enough for a pleasant day doing what we love the most 🎣 We hear less of the cicadas as we have had two nights of cooler temperatures, but don't despair as trout will not immediately stop taking cicada patterns. We had good reports yesterday and this morning from hyped up anglers who had a ball watching aggressive surface eats from rainbows and the odd brown.
The boat anglers have been putting in the yards to locate sheltered areas away from the wind while others will wait until the cyclone to pass. There's an increase of reports of koura eating fish which is a prize for most, as they are typically fat and delicious 🤤 We have good stock of Kilwell smokers instore and online, check them out here via the link: https://www.sportinglife-turangi.co.nz/search?q=kilwell+smoker&type=product
Shop Dad went out for a night fish with part time local Karl "Pesty" and each had a ball hooking rainbows and browns, while I was joined by Jason who landed a very gold and silver brown trout which took a Hot Bead Bugger (black/chartreuse) available instore and soon to be online.Â
