Sunday 30th October 2022

The rain is with us again with some heavy showers belting down on the roof through the night. There is a touch of humidity with this system and the lawns and gardens are filling out with new growth. Must be time to pull the lawn mower out of mothballs and see if it still starts.

The Tongariro had risen to 31cumec when I took the photos this morning and there were a few anglers getting out and about. It rose to 35 late in the morning but has now been on a slow drop. More rain is predicted for the rest of today and this evening so it's likely to be on the rise again.

The Tauranga Taupo would be out today having risen from a low of 0.2m yesterday to 1.1m today and will take a few days to drop back to fishable flows. Like the Tongariro it will surely rise again if more rain falls in the hills.

If the rain is keeping you off the waters it might be time to stock up the fly boxes ready for when you can get into it again. Our tying walls are always evolving with materials to help tie up the next secret offering, the online store has plenty of options as well..... https://www.sportinglife-turangi.co.nz/search?q=fly+tying&type=product
