Fergus, in the featured photo caught a nice rainbow hen on a recent evening fishing the Tongariro River! Great stuff, keep em coming! 

There are some good numbers of fish in the rivers now to keep most anglers satisfied, seeing both fresh and darker fish throughout. Good reports of fish rising and feeding on mayflies which are commonly seen in flight before being snatched by a fantail or swallow. Anglers have been getting a few fish on dries, so it's a nice prelude to the spring/summer just around the corner.
