It's another great day to be out on the water! It's currently overcast but the sunshine appears to be pushing through, so hopefully we have a sunny afternoon. There's no shortage of coloured up jacks and spent hens although they're not in bad shape and make for time well spent.
Yesterday Claudio and I fished the Tongariro with light gear rigged up in hope of finding a rising fish or two, we were not fortunate in that respect, but we did find good fish taking the nymph. I fished a run that was shallow/slow and picked up a few fish until I walked to a narrow yet deep/fast drop off where I decided to switch over to euro nymphing and collected a few more.
On our way back to the car the Red Hut enticed us to return for "one last cast" 😏 Claudio changed over to an indicator rig and scored himself a couple of stunning fish from the main run while I fished the head of the pool and picked up mostly juvenile fish and a few solid but small hens.
We have been busy preparing jigging/harling/trolling gear as the lake fishing has kicked off to a great start. Shimano polarised sunglasses, marine/fishing shoes, Pat Swift jig sets, sinkers, rod, and nets are amongst what we have in store and online.
