We are very fortunate to have Johnny Gummer in the shop while Shop Dad Neil is away on a fishing holiday in CXI. Many of you will know/heard of him, a highly skilled angler on both fresh and saltwater, and a friend to all of us in the shop.
Good numbers of fish are throughout the rivers at present, a mix of fresh/coloured up rainbows along with the odd brown trout. If you're looking at organising a winter fly fishing trip in the area, then get here soon as things may dwindle down in October.Â
Marty had a great day on the Tongariro with the single hand spey gear, swinging chartreuse beaded black wooly buggers. Having a variety of streamers and nymphs is still the go-to for catching good numbers of fish.Â
The 23/24 Fish and Game North Island Sports Fishing Regulation pamphlets have been delivered to the store! It's almost that time of the year when the backcountry streams open up and anglers are showing their eagerness to get out there for some epic dry fly fishing by getting their tapered leaders and dries purchased and organised for October 1st.Â
