Weather: Fine with areas of early fog. Cloud increasing this afternoon. Light winds.
Tongariro River Flow: 32(m3/sec)
The temperatures are cooling, and the fishing is starting to heat up. We are getting many reports of beautiful fresh run fish being landed- mostly from the town pools and down. Those venturing further up-river are finding less anglers and still being rewarded.
We have recently had another minor river spike on this past Sunday, that brought the river up to 70(m3/sec). Now the river has settled back to a nice and clear 32(m3/sec), people are finding good fish all through the river. Slushes, Glo-Bugs and Caddis are all on the menu- to those getting them deep with a heavy bomb like the #8 Simons Ugly.
An example of the condition factor on a lot of the fish. Caught by Gary recently, most likely on a slushy.
John from the States, recently made the trip to explore some of our local and further afield rivers we have to offer. We had a great day on the Hinemaiaia, Wanganui and Tongariro, and managed a fair amount of success in all the above.

We are expecting another decent bout of rain towards the end of next week, hopefully giving us another good flush and further encouraging more fish to start running. Shop staff have still been catching good quality browns, mostly on natural patterns.
During this good weather spell, the river mouth fishing hopefully keeps improving, while the fish start building up. We have lots and Heave & Leave and Booby flies in store, so come have a look.
Let see what next week's weather brings. But until then, have a great time everyone. Send us any reports and photos of how you get on.
Tight Lines,
