Tongariro River Flow: 27.5m3/sec

Weather: Overcast conditions with light rains and little wind

After a month of very little rain, the moderate rain we have had the last few days was much welcomed and certainly got a few fish moving up into the system. However, the Tongariro has quickly dropped in flow again and has cleared nicely. Most angers coming into the shop report catching 'a few' fish so they are certainly there for the catching and there don't seem to be many anglers out on the water at the moment, so you'll often have a pool to yourself! As seems to be the case lately the fish are reasonably spread throughout the river with anglers willing to cover a bit of ground to find where they're holding having the most success. Deep indicator nymphing and wet lining are both producing fish, with more natural, darker flies being successful in the clearer water.

Coming soon for a limited time and first in the country are the Simms Freestone Stockingfoot Waders in the Blue "Midnight" colour! These have an awesome vibrant colour and will certainly set you apart on the river. We have a large stock of them arriving at the shop shortly so keep an eye out online or instore as they are a great all round and affordable pair or waders!
