Good Morning From The Team At

🐟Sporting Life🐟

It's a rather mild overcast day and if you take a look at the graph pictured above you will see that the Tongariro river flow has dropped nicely and continues to fall as it runs clear by the day. Yesterday I went and explored some of the usual haunts to see all the changes, and I can confirm there's plenty to be seen and hidden 😅 There's a good snag or ten... In log form! Which you may see today as the river is much clearer. Take care and use a wading staff for support when traversing across rocks/boulders/logs along the river and in it as they can be quite unstable following on from a significant flood. There's also a lot of sand/pumice and debris deposited along tracks and edges concealing depressions in the terrain caused by the flooding - so be aware of those.

Yesterday the Black Magic Soft Eggs in UV Jacoberry 6.5mm were the most productive for us which are available in store and online. Wooly buggers and rabbit flies with UV hot spots are a great option when wetlining through higher and murkier flows. Early this morning fish were still on the Jacoberry soft eggs but started hitting the caddis variants when we had more daylight.
