Tongariro River Flow: 29.7m3/sec Weather: Mostly Overcast 🌥

A mild summer's day for Turangi which is great for those seeking a break from the heat. Boat anglers keep on coming through for gear top ups while sharing their stories with us - jigging remains the top method of choice for fish numbers and harvest. We have just tied up some more Sporting Life jig sets which are ready to use and come complete with the flies and sinker attached.

Fly fishing on the Tongariro requires finesse and patience for most anglers including those who know the river like the back of their hand. There are good numbers of quality brown trout sitting in deep pools and along the edges. Anglers have managed to get a few on dry/dropper or deep nymph set up so it's great to see those visiting putting in the time and effort to net a few of these stunning fish - well done.

Rosie and Neil managed to get a few hours of fishing into their day seeing them wander up the Tauranga-Taupo for a look and hooked into a few fish via wetlining.
