Christmas has been and gone and just like that we are only a handful of days away from the new year. Turangi has had a mixed bag of weather across the Christmas break from heavy rain to scorching hot summer days. Thankfully the wind has stayed away for the most part allowing holiday goers to make the most of the trolling and jigging on Lake Taupo and get a couple nice fat fish for the smoker.
The Tongariro is flowing at 25.8m3/sec and is looking as gorgeous as ever. The evening rise has really picked up the last couple days as the weather has warmed with good action on both parachute style dry flies and the always popular Sporting Caddis. Sam has been making the most of his time off and is back in action pestering the local brown trout as they are starting to become a more common appearance in the river at present.
It's been awesome to see everyone getting out there and enjoying the fishing on offer at the moment. As always, we appreciate all the support and patience from our customers during this busy period. Hopefully the weather continues to hold leading into the new year and the fishing continues to fire. The shop is well stocked to cater all fishing needs and we are here to help!
