It is mostly sunny here in Turangi today with a cool breeze blowing through town. The Tongariro is currently sitting at 52.6m3/sec and is looking perfect for both wet lining and nymph fishing, with both techniques consistently taking fish. Green or White caddis nymphs are a wonderful fly choice at this time as the high flow will have many insects dislodged from the rocks and the trout will be gorging themselves on them. Woolly buggers and rabbit patterns are always a sure bet while wet lining in either olive or black. The stream mouth fishing has continued to keep everyone happy both during the day and night and should only pick up as the change in weather will get fish starting to think about congregating around these areas as they prepare for their spawning runs. Make sure you rug up if you're planning on staying out into the evening as the temperature has been very chilly over the last couple days.
