Tongariro River Flow: 26m3/sec

Weather: Rain

Rain has returned to Turangi yet it remains to be warm and humid outside. Reports from customers who have done the early morning fish indicate there's mostly recovering fish although there are still some stunning chromes about. Neil fished yesterday and picked up a few fresh rainbows on the dry/dropper, fish predominantly taking the nymph. He too has been out for the evening hatches and picking up good numbers using the Sporting Caddis, it's a great pattern and deadly when used on the Tongariro from the evening and well into the night. Some prefer to use the classic wee wet fly patterns, and we have plenty of those if that's your cup of tea!

The lake fishing continues to produce results for the harlers/trollers and yesterday we had a few anglers making a point of using lures which were silver. We haven't heard much on the jigging front although we might expect to hear good results with the warmer days ahead.

Jess, Neil and I are instore today so come on in and pick our brains as we are more than happy to get you geared up and ready to tackle the great fishing the Central Plateau has to offer!

We have a good range of Topo Maps instore and online, perfect for campers, hunters and those seeking trout in the backcountry.
