Tongariro River Flow: 25.9m3/sec Weather: Partly Sunn
Neil and Sam didn't waste the nice sunny conditions on Monday and did a recce on the Tongariro looking for some brown trout. Only one positive feeding fish was found from the many seen, and it happily scoffed a caddis variant with glee. Neil managed a couple of little rainbows on a nymph but was pleased to pick up a late season recovering hen on a hi-vis PMX dry fly.
We received a great report from Dale who had a blast on Sunday he messaged:
"Thanks for your regular reports, they really do come in handy. I got these two browns on Sunday, sight fished on dry dropper, got dusted by another two as well. Fun fishing at the moment"
Lam was inspired to fish the river mouths by night and pushed on towards midnight when at 11:50pm a well-conditioned brown trout met the end of his line where a black lumo-bodied streamer had been cast out into the rip.
