Tongariro River Flow: 27.7m3/sec

Weather: Sunny!

It is another stunning sunny day for Turangi! And how good is it to be out there enjoying the warmth while outdoors. The weather has been good to boat anglers who have been waiting for a break from the wind and the verbal reports are positive and steadily coming through now.

Trolling is the favoured technique for numbers and fish quality, while a few have been jigging around Tokaanu Bay or fly fishing the Delta - not red hot but good fish have been caught.

Sam sent through a photo of a nice catch on the dropper trailing a dry. It certainly has been working a treat lately and even better when one takes the dry! Mayflies are fluttering right in our faces wherever we go on the river now 😅 unless the fish or fantail has nabbed it.

Claudio is making the most of daylight savings and getting on the river for some post-work relaxation! Living so close to the river he just chucks on the waders and away he goes - living the dream. Finding fish rising for bugs is the attraction for him, so lighter gear is key along with a pair of Tonic sunglasses which we have good stock of instore and online.

The shops fly display is now full of dries ranging from Category 3 Woomfah in olive and or black, JC Special PT Dry, Adams and more!
